What is Organ & Body Donation?
Organ Donation

Organ donation involves surgically removing an organ or tissue from one person (the donor) and placing it into another person (the recipient) whose organ has failed. Organs that can be donated include kidneys, heart, liver, lungs, pancreas, and intestines.
Body Donation

Body donation, also known as anatomical donation, is the act of donating one's entire body for medical education and research. Donated bodies are crucial for medical students to learn anatomy and for surgeons to practice complex procedures and develop new techniques.
The Process of Pledge and Donation
Pledging

You can now pledge for organ donation digitally! The Government of India's National Organ Donation Registry (NOTTO) allows you to pledge using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
During Death (Organ Donation)

Organ donation typically occurs after brain death, where the heart is still beating, ensuring organs are viable. A medical team assesses suitability and obtains family consent.
After Death (Eye/Body Donation)

Eye donation can be done after any type of death and takes only 10-15 minutes. Body donation is coordinated with medical colleges for research and education.
