Organ Donation Awareness Receives Enthusiastic Response in Nepal

Under the leadership of Shri Purushottam Pawar, a delegation from India conducted an organ and body donation awareness campaign in various parts of Nepal. The initiative, strongly supported by Rotarian Subhash Shrestha of Dhulikhel Rotary Club and Baiju George of Rotary Vasai, received an enthusiastic and inspiring response. The campaign included discussions with local mayors, Rotary District Governors, and other dignitaries in places like Pokhara, Bharatpur, Machhapuchhre, Tripureshwor, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Notable discussions were held with Nepal's renowned kidney and liver transplant surgeon, Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha, Executive Director of Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Centre (SDNTC), Bhaktapur. The campaign also involved visits to Tilganga Eye Bank and significant interactions with the Rotary Club of Kathmandu, establishing new seeds of cooperation with eye banks, skin banks, and authorized government agencies.

"Dolyanvar Bolu Kahi" Book Publication on Eye Donation Concludes Successfully in Kalyan

On World Eye Donation Day, the book "Dolyanvar Bolu Kahi" (Let's Talk About Eyes), written by Dr. Vinda Bhuskute, was published by Aksharmanch Samajik Sanskrutik Pratishthan. Harshal Gaikwad, Additional Commissioner of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, officiated the release. The book, designed for children, explains various aspects of eye care and donation. Dignitaries present included Dr. Vinda Bhuskute, Nagarajan Iyer from The Federation of Organ and Body Donation, Sureshbhau Suchak of Giants Group of Kalyan Men, Rohini Lokare, Executive Engineer of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, and Hemant Nehate, Secretary and Editor of Aksharmanch Samajik Sanskrutik Pratishthan.

95-Year-Old Social Worker Prabhavati Kashinath Gajbhiye Donates Body in Nagpur

Renowned social worker Prabhavati Kashinath Gajbhiye from Ram Nagar, Nagpur, passed away at the age of 95 due to old age. She selflessly served the poor throughout her life and inspired many students and women. Following her wishes, she had pledged for post-mortem body and organ donation during her lifetime. Her family honored her wishes by donating her body to Lata Mangeshkar Medical College, Digdoh, Hingna Road, Nagpur. Dr. Nalini Humne (Head of Medicine Department, Lata Mangeshkar Medical College), Dr. Sushil Meshram (Body Donation Committee Medical), and Vina Watore from Mohan Foundation assisted in the process.

Dehradun Residents Pledge Eye, Organ, and Body Donation on World Eye Donation Day

On World Eye Donation Day, many individuals in Dehradun pledged eye, organ, and body donation, setting an example of service and public welfare. Among them, Vimal Kumar Pant, a retired Punjab National Bank officer from Vivek Vihar, GMS Road, and his wife Anubha Pant, pledged to donate their eyes, organs, and bodies after death. The Dadhichi Seva Parivar lauded their noble act. Inspired by family tradition, Swasti Agrawal also pledged to donate her eyes, organs, and body. Her grandfather's body was donated in 2002, and her parents had also pledged body donation years ago. Dr. Mukesh Goyal, President of Dadhichi Dehdan Samiti, thanked all pledgers, emphasizing that such efforts send a positive message to society.

Wife Donates Kidney to Save Husband's Life in Bhandarkavathe, Solapur

The inspiring story of Bhagyashree Turche from Bhandarkavathe village in South Solapur taluka, who donated her kidney to save her husband Shivaji Turche. Shivaji's kidneys had failed, and doctors informed the family that finding a matching kidney would be difficult. Bhagyashree, whose blood group was O positive, decided to donate her kidney. With the support of her family, the transplant surgery was successfully performed at Yashodhara Hospital in Solapur. This act of selflessness has saved Shivaji's life and is seen as an act of "modern-day Savitri."

Social Organizations Unite for Organ Donation Movement in Solapur

Various social organizations in Solapur have shown enthusiastic support for 'Lokmat's 'Jivandan...Avayavdan' (Life Donation...Organ Donation) campaign. In a discussion held at Lokmat Bhavan, leaders expressed confidence in attracting more citizens through awareness programs, campaigns, and rallies. It was emphasized that organ donation after death can save many lives, and citizens were urged to pledge without falling prey to superstitions. Concerns and potential solutions regarding the movement were also discussed. Representatives from Shri Neelkatheshwar Social Foundation, including Shankar Bahagiri, Sunil Dhulm, Lakhan Mitha, and Ganesh Kulkarni, were present. Many individuals pledged organ donation, with Shyam Kadam filling an online form on the occasion of Shivrajyabhishek Day, and Prashant Babar on his daughter's birthday.

Kota Resident Dilip Kumar Jain Pledges Body Donation on 59th Birthday

Dilip Kumar Jain, a pharmaceutical businessman, LIC agent, and social worker from Talwandi, Kota, pledged his body donation on his 59th birthday, witnessed by his wife Indira Jain, at the Shine India Foundation's Talwandi office. He was inspired by his maternal uncle, social worker Vimal Chand Jain. The Jain family has a history of social work, with Dilip having facilitated his father's eye donation 12 years ago through the organization. Dilip also educates people about body donation through his LIC work, comparing it to how a policy benefits family after death. Indira Jain expressed her support and belief that other family members would also follow suit.
